Family fun in the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau - on skis or on a sledge
Versatile slopes, rustic huts and charming villages - the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau is a real gem. There is plenty of excitement on offer, especially for families and pleasure skiers, both on and off the slopes. We have the best conditions for a wonderful winter holiday!
Fun on the slopes for young and old: From the Kinderland to the Speed Check
The Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau makes ski fans happy with its 113 kilometres of pistes, 45 lifts, 25 cosy huts. Cool snow parks, several kid’s ski areas and an Alpine Coaster provide plenty of variety in the family ski region in the heart of the Tirol.
In the Schatzberg Zwergenland and in the Kinderland Juppi-Do the little ones can learn to ski with ease. Bigger kids put their skills to the test in the Schatzberg Snow Park at the Gernalm and in the Alpbachtal Snow Park, while the Family Park on the Wiedersberger Horn in Alpbach is recommended for families. Here you should definitely also plan a fast ride on the Alpine Coaster "Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser". You can measure how fast you are on skis at the Speed Check on the Wiedersberger Horn. A new highlight awaits speed fans from the coming 2024/25 winter season with the ‘KidsCross Alpbachtal’. It's an adventurous course over steep turns, through a snow tunnel, where you are cheered on by the mascot ‘Lauser’.
And don‘t forget: A stop for a bite to eat in one of the 25 rustic ski huts really rounds off a great day‘s skiing.
And this much variety made the ski region once again the winner in the "Families & Children" category with five out of five stars on Skiresort.de in winter 2022/23.
Good to know: From 16. March 2024 until the end of the season on 7. April 2024 all children up to 15 years of age ski for free in Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau if one parent buys at least a 3-day ski pass. Throughout the winter season, thanks to the Ski Juwel Specials, a Ladies' Day on Tuesday, a Men's Day on Wednesday and attractive discounts await guests over 65 on selected days.
The Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau with its four mountains and two valleys has a lot on offer not only for skiers. The natural toboggan runs on the Markbachjoch (over 6 kilometres long) and Schatzberg (over 5 km) have been awarded the Tirolean toboggan run quality seal and are fantastic fun, as is the run on the Reither Kogel (over 7 km). A winter hike through the snow-covered landscape, for example through the forest to the Norderbergalm or on the family circular hiking trail "Juppi Zauberwald" on the Reither Kogel, is a great way to wind down. A great activity for all the family is building an igloo under expert guidance in the Wildschönau. The programme can be booked for four to ten people on request. A ride as a co-pilot in a piste basher and a visit to the "Top of Alpbachtal" lookout tower, the highest point in the ski area, is also unforgettable. From here you have unbelievable views of the Tirolean Alps.
Adventures in a class of their own: Night skiing and kilometre-long toboggan runs
The Alpbach Valley provides special skiing moments such as night skiing on the Reither Kogel, which is one of the most popular night skiing areas in the Tirol. Night owls can also look forward to the "Wildschönau Dragon Winter Night" every Wednesday evening. Ideal for early risers is the "First Line Skiing on the Wiedersberger Horn" (from the beginning of March every Saturday from 7:00 a.m.)

Sustainable winter holiday
In the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau, great significance is put on sustainability. The current transport concept makes the valley stations in Alpbachtal and Wildschönau even more accessible by public transport. The use of the ski buses is of course free of charge. Guests arriving by e-car will find e-charging stations at the valley lift stations and at many hotels in the region.
The cable cars in Alpbachtal and Wildschönau are always striving to become CO2-neutral. New lifts, such as the Hornbahn 2000, are equipped with a direct drive to save energy. Among other things, the focus is on 100% green electricity and photovoltaics, the conversion of the vehicle fleet to electric mobility and the optimisation of snow guns and piste machines. In addition, the hydroelectric power plant at the Schatzbergbahn valley station produces more than half of the annual electricity consumption. Tourist businesses also work sustainably, which is why lots of businesses in the Alpbach and Wildschönau Valley have already been awarded the Austrian Eco-label.
Holidays in the heart of Tirol
The Alpbach Valley includes not only pretty Alpbach, known as Austria's most beautiful village with its characteristic wooden buildings, but also eight other traditional villages and Rattenberg, Austria's smallest town.
The unspoiled high valley Wildschönau lies in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. Rustic, old farms and four picture-book villages present a magical picture in winter.
